Nike’s collaboration with Jun Takashi extends beyond the popular Nike x UNDERCOVER React Element 87 and Daybreak silhouettes, both of which have seen huge commercial successes. In actual fact, the duo have been working together since 2011 on the Nike GYAKUSOU line that consists of fashionable (and functional) running apparel, expounding on Jun Takashi’s avant-garde style and Nike’s cutting-edge performance technology.

For Fall-Winter 2019, the key theme of the Nike GYAKUSOU collection lies in the amalgamation of cool graphic prints and ‘the spirit of 1970s running revolution’, with the coveted Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail taking centrestage. The sneaker’s pegged with several unique elements like the ‘GYAKUSOU went the distance’ text found on the toe box, and the addition of the rose found on the peg trail, an emblem that perfectly references UNDERCOVER’s balance/chaos (a rose’s delicate petals juxtaposed with sharp thorns) design ethos.

Design aside, the shoe is equipped with several features specifically geared toward trail runners. The upper comes furnished with a unique support system for extra reinforcement while running, and treated with a water-repellent coating so you never have to worry about the light drizzle that might arise in the middle of your jog. You will also notice several open areas that’s a result of Nike’s heat-mapping research technology, done to alleviate places around the foot which typically emit a higher temperature. As for the laces, they come in a thin (but strong) cable mechanism, which can be easily secured and aligned with the foot’s toe bones.

There’s currently no news of a raffle, which means that the sneakers will be up on a first-come-first-serve basis over at Dover Street Market Singapore on 26 September 2019. Priced at SGD239 each, you will be able to find the limited-edition Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail available in either a Red or Yellow, both of which are guaranteed to fly off the shelves in no time at all.
