Join the adidas Runners on this 2km speed run for all levels. Regardless of running experience, you’ll feel right at home, and be empowered to run strong from start to finish.
When it comes to cardio fitness, no activity comes close to being accessible and empowering like running. Partaking in this popular sport is as easy as lacing up your shoes and heading out for quick rounds around your neighbourhood that will send your heart rate soaring within minutes.
Post-run, getting high on endorphins and brimming with confidence and self-affirmation – from that secret knowledge that you can slay at anything- is a given. (Because girl, if you can do 5K under the SG heat and humidity, nothing is undoable!)
Running solo is great, but there is a saying: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Clocking miles in a group lends a level of comradeship, as well as mental and emotional support that you can’t get when you run alone. All that comes in handy when you’re looking to stay motivated and perform your best.
Since its inception in 2017, the adidas Runners community has grown exponentially with more than 5,000 active members on their dedicated Facebook Group. The programme is for anyone regardless of runners’ experience. Runners are led by coaches, captains and crew runners who tailor the runs so no one gets left behind. The programme has evolved to be both a running club and a community with a holistic training approach enabling any adidas Runner to reach their full performance potential.
For regular adidas Runner Cindy Oh, what started as a way for her to spend time with her boyfriend in 2017, has evolved into a beloved shared pastime. “The initial start was a huge struggle as I had not ran for at least four years and had to constantly stop from time-to-time to catch my breath but, he continued to pace me on my runs, being a constant motivator.”
For them, being part of a group has also extended their social circle and provided each with a certain level of competition.
“adidas Runners is not just a running group. It is a global community which brings together runners from all over the world, making us connected as one. Weekly programmes are planned and strategised accordingly to meet different running needs, whether you are a competitive or leisure runner,” shares Cindy. “The adidas Runners have consistently delivered on their call to never give up and to keep moving on.”
This spirit of encouragement is echoed by fellow member and trail runner Eisabess Chee, who at the start was in disbelief that running could be enjoyable. Now, she treats running as a form of self-love and chance to “have a conversation with myself⦠and challenge, or check in with my body”. Rather than going the road alone, the self-confessed team player devotes her Saturday mornings to sessions with other adidas Runners as a way to share her passion for running with like-minded folks.
“The thought of these people making the effort to roll out of bed and rock up makes me want nothing more than to prove to them that all that effort has been worth their while. adidas Runners gives me that dynamic platform to attain satisfaction out of what I enjoy, whilst allowing me to give back to the community in the process.”
For long-distance runner Nedra Lim, being part of a running group has motivated her to keep clocking long distances, faster. “Running with the adidas Runners community makes it enjoyable and motivational, because the people you meet are really passionate about running or are there to beat their personal goals.”
“When I was at the Berlin marathon, I saw other runners donning the adidas Runners shirts – it was a great feeling knowing that there are so many people from different places around the world who are part of this same community. It’s almost like having an invisible bond, which allows me to make more friends within the community.”
The adidas Runners Singapore community meets on a weekly basis, and is open to all. Check out their Facebook group for upcoming events.
