14 Cheapest Places To Drink Wine In Singapore

When it comes to wine, I really don’t discriminate. Be it red, white, or sparkling, I’ll quite happily souse my liver in any variety. As the famous saying goes, “I know not drinking wine each day won’t kill me but hey, why risk it?” With the sky-high vino prices in Singapore, I’ve had to risk it a little bit too much for my liking of late.

When I first arrived last year, I found it quite a challenge to find my favourite tipple being served at a reasonable price. There is nothing more disheartening than walking into a bar or restaurant and finding the cheapest wine available is a glass of bog-standard plonk coming in at a whopping S$18, or perhaps even more if you’re unlucky.

I have taken it upon myself to scour the island to find some of the best wine deals Singapore has to offer. Whilst we all know that Wine Connection is a firm fixture on the scene, when you get bored of that why not try somewhere new? As such, we’ve done the leg work and present you 14 of the cheapest places in Singapore for wine!

1. Napoleon Food & Wine Bar

With 32 wines available by the glass and prices starting at S$10 (S$8 during the daily 3pm – 7pm happy hour), in terms of choice and quality Napoleon Food & Wine Bar is hard to beat. The enomatic wine dispensers also make it easy for you to order tasting portions (from S$2), or half glasses (from S$4).

If you know little about wine but are keen to learn, the friendly sommeliers here will help guide the way for you. A great spot for lunch or post-work drinks.

Why not check out the latest addition to the rooftop scene at Lin Rooftop Bar. The first of its kind in Tiong Bahru is a cool spot for drinking al fresco. Whilst we love the decor, we heart the wine offers even more.

Grab a few friends, pull up a pew and chat the night away whilst working your way through these excellent value bottles.

4. The Pit Restaurant & Bar

It might not be the most glamorous place on this list, but for a sneaky cheap glass of wine at a super friendly local watering hole, you can’t go wrong at The Pit Restaurant & Bar in Holland Village.

House pour wine goes for only S$10 a glass, and that’s not even Happy Hour prices! If you want something a little better than your usual Chardonnay or Merlot, you can get the premium house pour which is only an extra S$2. Worth it for a Malbec in my view.

The Pit Restaurant & Bar: 21 Lorong Liput, Singapore 277733 | Tel: +65 6468 3468 | Opening Hours: 3pm – 1am (Mon to Fri), 1pm – 1am (Sat & Sun)

4. Loof

If rooftop bars are your thing then there is no better place to down a few vino‘s than Loof. The earlier you go, the cheaper your wine. At 5pm it’s S$5 a glass, increasing by S$1 every time the clock chimes upon the hour until 8pm when regular prices return.

With wine so cheap its worth getting here early, I’m not sure you really need any further excuse to knock off work early.

6. Privé at CHIJMES

We love sitting in the gorgeous al fresco garden in Privé at CHIJMES whilst sipping on a nice cool glass of vin blanc. Surrounded by luscious greenery and fairy lights, this is a beautiful spot for an afternoon drink or two.

Prive Wine

Happy Hour runs from 11am to 8pm where house pour Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot are a mere S$11 per glass. Privé at CHIJMES is the perfect sanctuary for a languorous afternoon drinking session.

7. Verre Modern Bistro & Wine Bar

cheap wine places singapore Verre

The philosophy here is that everyone should be able to appreciate fine wine minus the pretentious atmosphere. We couldn’t agree more and Verre is a great spot to drink vino and watch the world go by on the river.

Verre wine

The selection here is good and whilst some wines are pricy, get here before 7pm during the week or before 6pm on the weekend and the 1-for-1 offer on all wine and champagne by the glass really makes it worthwhile and purse-friendly.

Verre Modern Bistro & Wine Bar: 8 Rodyk Street, #01-05/06, Singapore 238216 | Tel: +65 6509 1917 | Opening Hours: 4pm – 12am (Tues to Fri), 3pm – 12am (Sat), 4pm – 11pm (Sun), Closed on Mon | Website

8. No. 5 Emerald Hill

cheap wine places singapore No 5 Emerald Hill

What better way to reward yourself after a hard days’ shopping than with a well-earned glass of wine. At No. 5 Emerald Hill house wines are only S$10 a glass until 9pm. We love the unique interior and find throwing peanut shells on the floor strangely satisfying.

Yes, it gets busy here but with wine and other drinks at such low prices, I daren’t complain.

9. The Green Door

We love the chilled out garden vibes at The Green Door in Dempsey. This bar is a relaxing green sanctuary and a perfect spot for a post work wine, or a lazy afternoon weekend BBQ session. Make the most of their early bird special from 5pm-8pm during the week where house pour wines are only S$11, the sauvignon blanc is particularly respectable.

10. KPO Café Bar

cheap wine places singapore KPO

For those of you who enjoy a mid-afternoon tipple, KPO‘s happy hour starts from the moment it opens and doesn’t end until 8pm. With house wine at S$10 per glass, it’s probably best not to make important afternoon plans.

Café by day and cool bar by night, we’ve often found this place can turn into a bit of a wine black hole â€” you’ll end up never leaving.

KPO Café Bar: 1 Killiney Road, Singapore 239518 | Tel: +65 6733 3648 | Opening Hours: 3pm – 1am (Mon to Thurs), 3pm – 2am (Fri), 6pm – 2am (Sat), Closed on Sun | Website

11. Open Farm Community

cheap wine places singapore Open Farm Community

For the bubble lovers amongst us, you really can’t go wrong with the champagne countdown deal at Open Farm Community (or more affectionately known as OFC). At weekends during their brunch seating, the first glass of champagne is S$24, reducing in price by S$6 after every glass until you reach your fifth glass and hit the S$0 jackpot.

Swill it down quickly enough and you’ll be quaffing for free in no time.

Open Farm Community: 130E Minden Road, Singapore 248819 | Tel: +65 6471 0306 | Opening Hours: 12pm – 4pm & 6pm – 11pm (Mon to Thurs), 12pm – 4pm & 6pm – 12am (Fri), 11am – 5pm & 6pm – 12am (Sat), 11am -5pm & 6pm – 11pm (Sun) | Website

12. Lounge @ Hotel Jen

There is always a wine deal going at Lounge @ Hotel Jen and that is why I love it. Every Wednesday and Friday night they offer a great three-hour free-flow deal. It’s S$28 for ladies with free-flow prosecco rosé and draught beer, and S$38 for gents with house draught beer and house wine from 6pm to 9pm.

What’s more, there’s a daily Happy Hour promotion that runs from 12pm to 7pm that entitles every guest to a one-for-one deal on selected house pour wine, draught beer and spirits! There are loads of comfy sofas to unwind on and a cool house DJ spinning the latest tunes de jour. This really is vino heaven.

13. Wine Connection Bar & Bistro (Robertson Walk)

cheap wine places singapore wine connection

We can’t very well miss out one of the most popular affordable wine joints in Singapore now, can we? Offering an extensive wine list with 20 to 30 varieties of wine by the glass, Wine Connection‘s various locations are a great spot for gathering with colleagues after work for a spot of vino. A glass of wine can be as cheap as just S$7 all day, while bottles typically start from S$25 onwards.

The food is pretty average, but the indoor and al fresco areas provide a casual setting to split that bottle of wine. Wine Connection usually gets pretty packed at night, so I’d advise making a reservation beforehand lest you have to leave Wine Connection high and dry.

Wine Connection Bar & Bistro (Robertson Walk): 11 Unity Street, Robertson Walk, #01-06, Singapore 237995 | Tel: +65 6235 5466 | Opening Hours: 11.30am – 1am (Mon to Thurs), 11.30am – 2am (Fri & Sat), 11.30am – 11pm (Sun) | Website

14. Praelum Wine Bistro

cheap wine places singapore Praelum

This is a personal favourite hangout when I’m in need of chilled out vibes, a bottle of decent wine and something yummy to eat. The wine list at Praelum Wine Bistro is extensive and thanks to the enomatic machines, there are numerous reasonably priced options served by the glass.

Service here is great and we also love their wine tasting events. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the latest event details.

Praelum: 4 Duxton Hill, Singapore 089590 | Tel: +65 6238 5287 | Opening Hours: 6pm – 1am (Mon to Sat), Closed on Sun | FacebookWebsite

With so many attractive wine deals in town, how do you choose just one? Give each one a try every time you’re craving a sip of vino, I suppose!
