Rimowa Essential Cabin

Unless you’ve been following German trunk maker Rimowa’s journey since it became part of LVMH, walking into any boutique now will be a huge surprise, given how much has changed since it went into the fold. For one, it has become more contemporary (even hipster) than it was before, with collaborations galore, including with the likes of Alex Israel, Dior and Supreme, just to name a few. They’ve also added more accessories, with everything from iPhone cases to luggage belts and even stickers to dress up your luggage with.

But the most obvious change has got to be their luggage line-up, which has seen additions that come in brighter and bolder hues. Take for example their Essential range (renamed, not new), their signature polycarbonate suitcases that now come in gloss or matte in a total of 11 different options. The ones you see above are probably the newest, from Saffron to Sage alongside Slate and Coral.

Coming in a variety of colours, the smallest would be the Cabin which comes in at 55 cm by 39 cm, one that should fit most airlines’ overhead compartments. Size-wise, it does go up from there, with each progressing size getting bigger, from Check-In M and Check-in L, as well as Trunk and Trunk Plus. And if you’re intrigued enough to find out more, head down to Rimowa’s recently opened flagship at Raffles Hotel where you’ll get to experience the new look, check out the new luggage pieces and even obsess over which accessories to buy. You’re welcome.
