Sipping coffee against spectacular views on Roppongi Hills’ Tokyo City Sky Gallery is something most traveller would love to do when they’re in Japan.
Tokyo City View and MARUYAMA COFFEE are the masterminds behind the birth of this unique coffee experience, known as GACHA GACHA COFFEE.
From now till mid-November 2019, customers can immerse themselves in an entire coffee-making process, from “grind to drip”.
One of Japan’s most well-known roasting brands, Maruyama produces the unique beans at GACHA GACHA COFFEE.
The word “gacha” originates from “Gashapon” or “Gachapon“, which refers to the capsule toys dispensed from vending machines, popular within Japan.
Likewise, GACHA GACHA COFFEE begins with customers picking their coffee beans.
Customers will have six different coffee beans to choose from, ranging from deep to lightly roasted coffee beans.
Following that, they will pay for the capsules and subsequently obtain them from the machines. Customers then open the capsule up and pour the beans from the bag into the second machine for grinding. A paperless dripper carries the coffee beans and is taken to the third machine to add water.
Customers should place their paper coffee cup under the dripper and select either Express or Rich. Finally, sit back, relax, and enjoy the self-made coffee!
The purpose of this self-service coffee process focuses on having customers handle part of the work that staff have been doing in recent years, when there is a shortage of manpower.
The best time to savour your coffee is probably when the sun sets as the sky becomes a picturesque landscape.
So hurry and grab your drinks, because the Gachapon service only dispenses a limited number of capsules each day.
